Today my only sister, Debi Parker Muller, left this world for her next journey. She left behind her husband Tom (they were married for 45 years), her daughters Lisa and Jacqui, and her son Robert. She was so proud of her six grandkids - they meant the world to her.

If you'd told me two weeks ago that I'd be writing this message, I would've called you crazy!

She had been fighting pneumonia for several weeks, but we thought she'd recover, like always. She wasn't getting any better and was rushed to the hospital last Friday. She couldn't fight any more. Her lungs were severely compromised. Ultimately, she made the decision to give up the fight and be removed from oxygen.

Many of my childhood friends knew Deb well and she cared very much about you. She babysat some of you, sewed our cheerleading uniforms, and helped cart our butts around when we were in elementary and junior high school. She taught me how to cook and sew, but to her annoyance, she could never seem to teach me to keep my thoughts to myself (like she did so well).

I'm blessed to have had the opportunity to say goodbye to her. Our last words to each other were, "I love you."

I know she's in a better place and I'm glad she was able to make the ultimate decision. However, my heart aches for those she left behind. She leaves a huge hole that will never be filled.

Hug your loved ones while you can. Life is precious.
