Recent News About Me:
George Joseph Doane III, 65, of Sacramento, CA was born November 29th, 1948 and died September 13th, 2014. "Joe" Doane passed at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento after a difficult battle with cancer. He is preceded by his parents, George and Flora, and is survived by his loving wife Judy, his daughter Kimberly (husband Richard), son Joe Jr. (wife Leah), stepson Jason (wife Melanie), stepdaughter Anna, five cherished grandchildren Nathan, Nicholas, Lex, Raina, and Rowen, and brothers Mike (wife Cathy), Steve (wife Marcee), Rod (wife Linda), sisters Sherry (husband Ron), Susie, and many loving nieces and nephews. After serving honorably in the Army National Guard and completing his Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration at California State University, Sacramento, Joe began his career as a law enforcement officer for the California Department of Justice (DOJ) in 1971. As a Special Agent in the field, Joe performed a variety of difficult and dangerous tasks including undercover drug buys, covert and aerial surveillance, and clandestine laboratory investigations. After nine years, his superiors recognized his leadership potential and promoted him to supervisor, then Bureau Chief, and finally to the Deputy Director of the Division of Law Enforcement. Joe would eventually retire from this position after 32 years of proud service to the people of California. An avid photographer, Joe's work was featured in a series of small newspapers and several advertisements in Sacramento Magazine. As a licensed pilot, he cultivated a lifelong appreciation for flying and aviation. He also loved playing the guitar and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Joe will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the many people he mentored during his time at the Department of Justice. Memorial services will be held this Friday, 10AM at First Baptist Church at 8939 East Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA. Donations in Joe's name may be made to the Law Enforcement Chaplaincy of Sacramento, P.O. Box 2829, Sacramento, CA 95812-2829 or the Wounded Warrior Project via their website at http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/sacbee/obituary.aspx?n=george-joseph-doane&pid=172497662&#sthash.Cx6RjcHc.dpuf
