Occupation: | Manager for CA State Automobile Association | | James D. GETTYS Born Feb. 27, 1947. A truly caring husband, father, son and ever-cheerful friend to all, lost his courageous 4-year battle with metastatic melanoma on June 15, 2010. A graduate of Sacramento State University in Business, his love of people led him to a satisfying career in insurance, first as an agent and then as an area development manager for the California State Automobile Association. Jim engaged in life to its fullest as an avid traveler and passionate participant in a wide range of sports including world-class sailing. During his long illness he cherished the closeness and quiet times with his beloved family and dog Tucker. Jim also diligently stayed in touch with loved ones far and wide, ending all his emails with his most sincere wish "Be Well." His constant support and gentle spirit will be dearly missed by his wife Donna Gettys, son Ian Gettys, mother and stepfather Jean and Bev Davis, stepchildren Dustin and Heather Fields, brother George Gettys and his wife Val, brother Ken Gettys and sister Susan Gettys, nieces Alicia, Mary, Cindy, Andrea and nephew Ricky and his very fortunate friends. His father Richard Gettys preceded him in death. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday June 19 at the East Lawn Memorial Park, 43rd and Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, California.
