RIP 2018 Jan 6
From Bob: I lost my hero this morning. My brother Bill passed away at the age of 69. He was a gentelman, scholar, world renouned wine consulant, traveler to far off lands, expert fisherman, triva king, sports nut, friend to many, and just an all around great guy. And although i am sad today, i take a great deal of pride knowing that i am indeed a better person today by having had him bless my life. Rest easy BB
It is with heavy hearts that we must say that Bill Gilbert passed away this morning due to complications from Parkinson's Disease and brain cancer. He has been battling cancer for the last 5 years, and recently it was found to be progressing rapidly. He was receiving care at a facility in Auburn for the past month.

Despite everything, Bill was still as strong as ever, keeping his humor and his wits until the end. We will miss him and his constant positivity, and his love of life and friendship and wine.

He had many friends all around the world, and we hope that you can focus your thoughts on the good memories you had with him.

With love,
Steve, Merete, and Christopher Gilbert
From Nathan:
Us Gilberts are a laid-back people. We don't stand on ceremony, one could say. But if we had to choose who our patriarch was, it would be my first cousin and fishing buddy Bill Gilbert, who I was sad to learn this morning has gone to be with the ancestors.

I will miss your humor and intelligence and warmth and scary Trivial Pursuit knowledge and those crazy mystery wines you always brought to our camping trips, Brother Bill.

Rest in peace.
