FOR GOD and COUNTRY, & OUR CORPS
On a lonely hill near Ol’ Kha Sanh,
I once weeped over body bags,
for friends I knew - who gave their all,
For God and Country, and Our Corps.
On a dusty trail where I once killed,
for forgotten freedoms I bowed my head,
where Marines had died - they’d fight no more,
For God and Country, and Our Corps.
On a dreary field near Con Thien,
I once knelt on bended knees,
and prayed to God to keep me strong,
For God and Country, and Our Corps.
On another night long after Tet,
this war did end in a shameful way,
for many died on forgotten hills,
For God and Country, and Our Corps.
Yet, another day a wall was build,
to honor those who died in vain,
their names now edged in marble black,
For God and Country, and Our Corps.
Now on lonely nights I sit and stare,
and ponder why we went to war,
yet, understand - it was duty’s call,
For God and Country, and Our Corps.
Thus, I know we’d raise again,
to fight in wars as we once did,
for when duty calls - Marines march forth,
For God and Country, and Our Corps.

A WARRIOR’S WIFE
A Warrior’s Wife - a rare breed indeed,
she stays at home to mind the store,
takes care of children - does all the chores,
and seldom gets her just rewards.
She starts each day at crack of dawn,
she cleans and washes, and feeds them all,
she rarely stops - her work’s never done,
and only rest when the day is done.
A Warrior’s Wife can’t settle down,
like the other wives in other towns,
she follows him - from shore to shore,
and shares his live and even more.
A Warrior’s Wife - sometimes she cries,
for she knows fear when cannons roar,
for warriors march when called upon,
to fight in battles on distant shores.
A Warrior’s Wife - so brave, so true,
to God and country, and her call,
she made this choice without regret,
yes, A Warrior’s Wife has a warrior’s soul.
Thus, she marches from store to store,
she does the shopping, prepares the meals,
and when their sick its her they’ll call,
for A Warrior’s Wife does it all.
So, if I were a general this I know,
I make a medal for them alone,
for wives have done what we could not,
they deserve this honor, and so much more!

FROM THE HALLS OF MONTEZUMA
From The Halls of Montezuma,
to the shores of Tripoli,
each time I hear those words,
a chill comes over me.
From youth when I first heard it,
to adulthood fully grown,
for it has a special meaning,
thus, it always lingered on.
Our flag’s unfurled to every breeze,
From dawn to setting sun.
How true this words echo today,
for our work is never done.
First to fight for right and freedom,
And to keep our honor clean,
those words have special meaning,
for United States Marines.
In the snows of far off northern lands,
or in sunny tropic scenes,
. today the world’s a safer place,
because of United States Marines.
Thus, From The Halls of Montezuma,
to the shores of Tripoli,
each time I hear those words,
a chill comes over me.
Based on the words of an unknown writer who loved our Corps!
For without him there would have been no Marine Corps Hymn.

INTERNET WARRIOR’S of CYBERSPACE
It’s hard to fathom this battle zone
for warriors here act very strange.
They use gossip to form strategies,
while moving silently through cyberspace.
They throw their punches in verbiage ways,
while making claims in child like play.
They use lies without much thought,
while running deep through cyberspace.
Thus, one can find them most every day,
causing friction as they type away.
They have no fear they think its fun,
while playing games in cyberspace.
Yet, some will say - they do no harm,
just turn your cheek and they’ll be gone.
But left unchecked they just do more,
for there’s no rules in cyberspace.
So, don’t be fooled cause you cannot see,
the harm their doing to you and me.
For their like germs that cause decay,
and their hidden deep in cyberspace.
So heed this warning if you’re out there,
to be on guard and stand prepared,
for they grow like roaches - a filthy breed,
these Internet Warriors of Cyberspace.

ON OKINAWA
As a warrior young I was sent afar,
to train and live - On Okinawa!
I found a people who suffered much,
Yet, they endured - On Okinawa!
Thus, I witnessed their pain and shame,
as they survived - On Okinawa!
For years of war had took its toll,
for those alive - On Okinawa!
In middle age a warrior grown - again,
I returned live - On Okinawa!
But found a people whom I did not know,
for things had changed - On Okinawa!
For where sorrow stood just years before,
I found new life - On Okinawa!
I saw a people who were born anew,
for hope was here - On Okinawa!
Thus, like the ashes of the Phoenix soul,
they rouse again - On Okinawa!
For children laughed and played once more,
and I saw smiles - On Okinawa!
Thus, these people who have worked and toiled,
made lives anew - On Okinawa!
This island’s ways the world should know
they survived again - On Okinawa!

THE WHITE SWANS of HOHAN SOKEN
They’re poetry in motion as they move across the skies,
for the whiteness of their beauty - reflects purity of heart.
The White Swans of Hohan Soken!
Thus, throughout the ages they’ve stirred the poet’s hand
for there’s grace in all their doings, so they’re studied much by man.
The White Swans of Hohan Soken!
It’s more than just a feeling to watch them fly and live,
for they demonstrate a standard - not yet achieved by man.
The White Swans of Hohan Soken!
They’re poetry in motion as they move across the floor,
for the whiteness of their gis - reflects purity of heart.
The White Swans of Hohan Soken!
Thus, throughout their lives they seek to be like them
for there’s strength in imitating - creators such as these!
The White Swans of Hohan Soken!
Henceforth, his dream now lives as his students train each day
all around our planet - in very Swan like ways.
The White Swans of Hohan Soken!
..........................
Yes, there was beauty in his motion as he moved along live’s path
for he left a masterpiece, not yet finished for us to ponder on.
The White Swans of Hohan Soken!

THE MIGHTY WARRIOR’S PRAYER
In the midst of troubled waters, when storm clouds gather near,
I take my stand upon a rock, where God has marked the spot -
and then I pray.
In the midst of life’s confusions, where temptation plays all parts,
he sends a Lamb into the world, to lead us through the night -
and then I pray.
In the midst of utter chaos, where problems are not clear,
I hear the sound of angles, as marching unto war -
and then I pray.
In the midst of total sorrow, the Lamb is put to death,
to raise again in just three days, yet, speaks of love not hate -
and then I pray.
In the midst of God’s creation, a Light does soon appear,
it means a new beginning, for God’s plan is drawing near -
and then I pray.
In the midst of battles ragging, with evil forces all around,
He sends forth His mighty warriors, to enact His battle plan -
and then I pray.
So, in the midst of all life’s doings, a warrior’s way is clear
Peace through strength and honor, for a warrior’s sword is prayer -
and so I pray.

IN QUANTUM FIELDS OF TIME & SPACE
From dust to life a soul is born,
to live and die in years to come,
but first to live and then explore,
the Quantum Fields of Time & Space.
Their home a planet that moves through space,
with other worlds and galaxies,
their path was chartered long ago,
In Quantum Fields of Time & Space.
Their world is known as mother earth,
for on its surface lives all mankind,
who seek the answers of things unknown,
In Quantum Fields of Time & Space.
Yet, all who live there look out beyond,
and in wonderment their search goes on,
for other life forms that may exist,
In Quantum Fields of Time & Space.
They listen daily and send out probes,
to investigate this vast domain,
for imaginings are more than rare,
In Quantum Fields of Time & Space.
Thus, as centuries pass their search goes on,
as new dimensions start to unfold,
but what is new is really old,
In Quantum Fields of Time & Space.
Yet, some have found another key,
that opens doors in other ways,
and their Master’s way is very clear,
In Quantum Fields of Time & Space.
Thus, in this vastness of endless time,
their Ruler lives in spirit form,
for His Kingdom is out there,
In Quantum Fields of Time & Space.

THE MASTER OF MASTERY
He seeth things you cannot, he feelth things you dare not,
he lookth poor but he be not,
for ordinary - he is not.
He trainth daily most his life, not to liveth but to die.
His mind thinkth things far beyond,
the visions of normal men.
His emotions seem not, for seldom does he shed a tear.
Some sayth his heart is dead,
yet, his body liveth on.
Once he fought a bloody fight, killing many throughout that night,
but this was petty as compared,
to one child he had to kill!
Thus, this warrior knows the pain, in darken shadows of unmarked graves.
Still those memories hauntht his sanity,
in strange places of his mind!
As years passed he cast his heart, like tempered steel that cannot feel,
and yet his mind remembers well,
each face, of those he killed!
Thus, quickened from their demise, but sometimes not as he preferred.
For a quicken soul sometimes lives on,
and thus the master becomes their kin.
He mastered all he set to do, and will continue until life is through,
for a master’s life means discipline,
of pain, of love and even shame.
So as death approaches he prepares, for this journey started long ago,
he knows death’s sting for he studied well,
and as he mastered life -
he’ll master death!

THE ATTITUDE CHECK
The general was planning the battle,
the colonel was deeply concerned,
the major was drafting the orders,
and private, he was just getting up.
The captain was checking the rifles,
the lieutenant was shinning his brass,
the sergeant was changing the roster,
and the private, he’s now cleaning the head.
The chaplain was reading his bible,
the alc’y was slipping a drink,
the corporal was reading a skin book,
and the private, he was taking a grap.
The general sent down a message,
the colonel was shaken’ a bit,
for it stated the general was worried,
and he wanted an attitude check!
The chaplain said everyone’s saved sir,
the alc’y kept drinking his drink,
the corporal kept reading his skin book,
and the private, was staring to strain.
The captain said everyone’s happy,
the louie, he shook his head,
the sergeant tore up the dammed roster,
and the private, he just wept away.
Now you may think this poem has no meaning,
no purpose, no rime or no thought,
so liberty is here-by canceled,
until the moral all improves.
Oh the captain said everyone’s happy,
the chaplain said everyone’s saved,
and this made the general so happy,
but the private, he got put on restriction
for being late!!
And that’s the end of an attitude check!!!

SEMPER FI
He could not seeth nor even move, nor hear the man that standth near,
thereupon the sergeant whispdered low, Marine the Commandant is here.
His eyes opened as if to say, He cometh here this very day.
As pain of body moved through mind, his eyes did motion please come near.
The general knelt on bended knee, and placed his ear close to hear,
the words this warrior had to bear, in wonderment as all stood near.
The general rose in sober grace, and took a breath while fighting tears.
Then slowly saluted this lad so brave, and said, Semper Fi, my young Marine.
Thus, others wondered what doth he say, for the general seemed somewhat dismayed.
What words he speakth to cause this stir, for the general now did bow in prayer.
Hence, the general turned to all, and said this lad has said it all,
he couldth not speak but just two words, words that mean his mind is clear.
This lad was faithful to his call, and so were others who died that day,
for he could not speakth the words complete, Semper Fidelis, but just Semper Fi.
Thus, this young warrior doth understand, that always faithful is a special creed,
shared by warriors whom wear the green, and claim the title of U.S. Marine!
Semper Fi !
