Passed away on January 20, 2019, after living for 96 years and after having been widowed for only 33 days. Don taught at Highlands from the 1958/59 school year through the 1964/65 school year. Many of us learned mechanical drawing or math (me) or both, while others knew him as a baseball coach. He also refereed basketball games and, if I remember right, served on the board of the Mission Oaks Park District. Like so many Highlands teachers of those first years, Mr. McKenzie transferred to Foothill when it was built. Darn! | | |
