Ra Shel Floriece Swope, 53, passed away peacefully at her brother's home in Menlo Park on November 26, 2017, after a valiant two and one half year battle with breast cancer. Ra Shel was born to Virgil R. and Dorothy Swope on October 25,1964, at Kincheloe Air Force Base, Michigan. After having lived in many locations while her father served in the Air Force, she settled with her family in North Highlands, CA, upon her father's retirement from military service. Ra Shel graduated from Highlands High School on 1982, and she attended the University of California at Berkeley for two years, before having to leave school for treatment of recurrent breast cancer. Following that treatment, she transferred to Sacramento State and graduated in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in business. Following graduation she worked as a claims adjuster for USAA for 12 years, and then worked for other third party administrators in that same field. She continued to work for Gap until her illness ended her career in 2016. Ra Shel was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Dorothy Swope, and her stepmother, Ida (Robertson) Swope. she is also survived by two stepsisters, Linda Johnson (David) and Julie Robinson, and nephews, Melvin Jolly Jr. and Parker Swope, her uncle and aunt, Essex and Virginia Fowlks, her aunt Marva Parker, and numerous cousins. | | |
